(Video! Why It Feels Impossible to Quit Social Media)

In two minutes:

β€’ 700,000 Tweets are made on Twitter.

β€’ A MILLION comments on Facebook.

β€’ Over 1,000 hours of uploads on YouTube.

Infinite Scrolls reward you for doing nothing!!!!

You're not given the chance to ask for more content. You're simply given it. And if you're rewarded for doing nothing, then... you'll do nothing.

People's perception of social media and the outside world can be... a bit lofty.

Fundamentally, you're still the same person, whether or not you have a Facebook account.

Your problems are your problems and they don't VANISH just because your data has.

Two things that are hard:

β€’ Being alone

β€’ Maintaining relationships

On it's own, Social Media can be quite Vapid and Pointless, but if you add a layer of Purpose to it, it can.. Rapidly become... Something that's quite nice.

Intention means using the internet as a Supplement to your life instead of a Substitute.

If you approach tasks with a sense of Intention and Purpose, you'll always be proud of yourself, no matter how well it goes. And what more can you ask for, at the end of the day? β™‘

(Video: The 'Dopamine Detox' trend needs to end. By Fads.)

"Dopamine bridges the gap between Expectation and Experience.

If our experience exceeds our expectation, dopamine gets released.

If our experience doesn't live up to our expectation, we actually get a drop in the amount of dopamine that our brain cells release.

It helps us learn from an experience and helps us update the expectation for the next time.

When the time comes when you want to consciously quit, your brain or your reward system has learned to want the thing that gives you that great experience that constantly exceeds your expectations.

Dopamine affects:

β€’ Movement

β€’ Executive Function

β€’ Motivation

β€’ Reward

β€’ Planning

β€’ Ability to Breastfeed???

Dopamine may play a role in some neutral networks implicated in motivation, but there are also cognitive factors and psychological factors that influence our behaviours, and these are different for each and every one of us.Β

"It helps when you don't have to explain yourself to others and you can just relax and hang out without any judgement."

(Do All Autistic People Think The Same? | Spectrum by Jubilee)

"What makes us different... is the intensity of interest, and the level of knowledge in the subject."

"I have a tendency to INFODUMP when I get excited about something, which means that I might tell you everything I know about the topic, even if you basically just asked a question to be polite."

(Autism symptoms in GIRLS by Yo Samdy Sam)

"Putting me in situations that I can't control can make me much more withdrawn."

Introverts have higher levels of activity in the cortico-reticular loop of the brain, so are chronically more critically aroused than are extroverts. If so, crowds and noise would very quickly create a sensory overload for such an individual.

Book: LIVE RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE - Dr. Peter J.D'Adamo

Sympathetic Nervous System: Responsible for our Fight or Flight Response.

Parasympathetic: Responsible for relaxing the nervous system after whatever set off the alarms indicating danger has passed.

The proper functioning of both is a critical component to our health. (Luckily, we all have them)

Together, the two branches of the nervous system communicate with your endocrine system and internal organs to help you maintain proper function and respond to a wide range of potential challenges.

They are antagonists. They tend to work best in balanced opposition to one another.

Sympathetic: Causes your heart to beat faster and more forcefully.

Parasympathetic: Slows down your heart rate and unclenches the arterial muscle walls, allowing free blood flow and oxygenation of the heart muscle.

Problems occur when one of the two parts of this system has a continued dominance over the other for prolonged periods of time.

Remember to take breaks when you're involved in work that takes a lot of focus and concentration. You can be more productive if you don't work to the point of exhaustion - rather "bracket" your mental activities with other activities.

Switch between mental and physical projects every day. The effect is rehabilitating. It allows me to distance myself from each activity, affording greater objectivity and creativity. This strategy also reduces my tendency to neurose over details to the point where a project is ruined.

Winston Churchill can rest parts of his mind by simply using other parts of his mind. In the midst of World War II, he always had time for his watercolours.

People favour small talk, over big, deep talk.

Holding hands with someone who's not your boyfriend or girlfriend is considered weird nowadays, lol. Two examples (that I'm proud of)

1. Holding hands with Summa

2. Wrapping my arm around with Becka and walking around when her when she was wearing a Cape.

3. Aaaand I had a huge crush on Hannah for most of my life until now, which I think its actually adorable :)

And.... uhh... it would be amazing to have a girlfriend.

Okay, so the root of the matter. When people make a joke or ask a question like "So, how are you?" You're expected to answer in an expected way or react by laughing EVEN IF you don't find the joke funny.

1. Luckily my friend Summa, John and others don't actually do this, and I think Seth is naturally funny too who doesn't even try.

2. "Your mom" jokes are not funny. Pfft. It's starting to get dry now. However, I have just started liking "I forgoπŸ’€" and "I rememberπŸ˜€"

3. People react weird when they look at you after making a joke and you don't smile or laugh.

4. And when you don't smile you're automatically seen as "sad". You can still be happy and not smile. That means you're content.

5. Not to mention BLOODY SCHOOL where teachers HAVE to overreact if you slightly do something different.

This is why online chatting can actually be relaxing and easier in comparison, if you're not that fond of small talk and chat with people who don't really wanna have deep convos. You can just have it online. But then again... You could give it a shot in real life first, even if you fail! That's one of my goals. πŸ’–

Experience: even when I was 11, I used to find typing easier and more fun. I loved using emojis and I still do, which means that I still use the internet for relaxation and fun and education in my own way. In a way that suits me.

In a way that I like writing down and remembering information. It's really useful for you. It's also great for drawing too.

I might be trying to hard to be a psychologist for people, but its just because I understand the thought processes and loopholes they go through πŸ˜‚

It's not that I over think.

Maybe I'm just hyper aware. πŸ˜€

I've also become more chill lately, like I dont force myself to text a whole bunch, and actually enjoy a different activity instead, like drawing, reading, watching or playing when I'm on my own. They're so relaxing and fun.

I text less and use emojis less which is nice 😊

I just kinda notice as I listen to other people that they often follow the SAME social conventions :/ so it's actually refreshing to see people online who talk about games n characters they like n such. To me, that's actually a way more relaxing and fun conversation, especially showing someone something you love and thoroughly enjoying it with them.

Unfortunately, which this age "stigma" we have, two older generations of mine just generally can't understand the modern stuff we have now, or how we have fun with these silly jokes, ridiculous childish videos and random games. They think it's a waste of time.

Sure, it may be a result of being a shut in, but I think it's better of a positive result than a bad one, as long as you find something you're passionate about :)πŸ‘πŸ»

Why are some people's texts actually nicer than their real life selves/voices? (What do you think?)
